VR Chat

Getting into VRChat from an Oculus (Meta Quest) headset is pretty straightforward.

What You’ll Need:

Meta Quest 2 (or newer) or Meta Quest Pro

Wi-Fi Connection (strong for smooth play)

Oculus App (optional but helpful for management)

Steps for Installing and Launching VRChat on Meta Quest:

1. Turn on Your Meta Quest Headset

• Make sure it’s fully charged or plugged in. Power it up by pressing the button on the right side.

2. Go to the Meta Quest Store

• Once your headset is on, press the Oculus button on the right controller to open the Oculus Home menu.

• Look at the menu and click on the Store tab (it’s usually in the bottom toolbar).

3. Search for VRChat

• Use the virtual keyboard to type VRChat in the search bar. It should pop up quickly since it’s a popular app.

4. Download and Install VRChat

• Once you find VRChat, click on its icon and then click the Free button to begin the download.

• Wait for the app to install. This might take a few minutes, depending on your internet speed.

5. Launch VRChat

• After installation, press Launch to open VRChat directly, or you can always access it later from your Library tab in the home menu.

Creating or Logging into a VRChat Account

You can either use a guest account (limited features) or sign up for a full VRChat account for access to more features.

If You Want to Create an Account:

• VRChat allows logging in with VRChat accounts or Oculus accounts.

• If you already have a VRChat account, use that to log in.

• Otherwise, you can create a new account via the VRChat website (vrchat.com) on your phone or PC and log in with those credentials.

Tip: Signing up for a VRChat account gives you access to saving avatars, creating worlds, and other advanced features that aren’t available with just your Oculus account.

Navigating VRChat for the First Time

Movement: Use your thumbsticks to move around. The left joystick controls walking, and the right joystick allows you to turn.

Menu: Press B (right controller) to bring up the VRChat menu. From here, you can browse worlds, change avatars, or adjust settings.

Social Features: You can see your friends, invite them, or join their sessions via the social tab in the menu.

Avatars: Explore avatar worlds or use the Avatar tab in the menu to find new looks and characters.

Optional: PC Link or Air Link for Advanced Play

If you want to run PC VRChat (for better graphics, custom mods, and access to more worlds) and have a gaming PC, you can use Oculus Link or Air Link:

1. Oculus Link (wired): Use a compatible USB-C cable to connect your Quest to your PC.

2. Air Link (wireless): Make sure both your Quest and PC are on the same high-speed Wi-Fi network, then enable Air Link from the Settings > Experimental Features on the Quest.

Then, launch VRChat via Steam or Oculus PC app for the PC version.

Final Tips:

Explore Worlds: The Worlds tab in the menu allows you to browse thousands of different environments and experiences made by the community.

Custom Avatars: You can save favorite avatars or even import custom ones if you get into the creative side of VRChat.

Community Etiquette: VRChat is a social platform, so being respectful and open to meeting people from different backgrounds is key to having a good time.

Welcome to a world of limitless possibilities, where the journey is as exhilarating as the destination, and where every moment is an opportunity to make your mark on the canvas of existence. The only limit is the extent of your imagination.
